Dr. Rose Etienne-Gibson is the founder and president of A Bag of Smiles, Inc. She was born in Haiti and moved to the United Stated at the age of 17. She served in the US Air Force for 4 years, while pursuing a bachelor degree in criminal justice. She later obtained a master degree in psychology and a specialist degree in school psychology. Dr. Gibson received her Doctor of Ministry (D-Min) degree in 2018 from South University. In addition to presiding over A Bag of Smiles, Dr. Gibson is currently working as a school psychologist for the Palm County School District and the Out-Reach Director at Acts2 Worship Center in Loxahatchee.
Serving children is Dr. Gibson’s passion. She has been working with children since she was a teenager. She volunteered at churches and other organizations. She has experience working with children in the schools, the juvenile justice system, the community, and churches. In 2007, Dr. Gibson went on a mission trip to Haiti, which compelled her to be a better servant to those in need. Upon leaving Haiti on that trip, she asked God to help not to forget the children that she saw in poverty in her country. This experience and her passion for children led her to start collecting donations to deliver to the underprivileged children in Haiti for Christmas in 2008. Her continuous efforts led to the incorporation of the non-profit organization, A Bag of Smile Inc, in November 2012.
